7d Shouldn't that be from the south rather than east.

DeleteCrosswords (each clue too) are solved on (written on) paper first and then filled in grid.
So East is fine for both Across and Down clues but obv south/North is no-no for across clues!
Not fair in a way, but when you think of Arabic writing from East to West, it hurts justified
