15A- Murder is certainly not crow. It is a group of crows. Plural and not singular.
ReplyDelete+1....alarming one of murder.
Delete15A I interpreted it as a CD and not a charade
DeleteBody in the open (i.e. in a field) alarming (scaring away) murder (a group of crows) is SCARECROW
A scarecrow is meant to scare a group of crows and not just one crow - so murder is correct IMO

Delete+1 Ramki . A scarecrow scares crows
Delete21d covering? At would have been apt
ReplyDeleteIn a down clue, A covering B to indicate that A is above B is okay IMO.
DeleteOf course, "at" would also work fine as a connector.
13a DD??
ReplyDeleteMufti as plain clothes/civilian is derived from islamic scholar, a judge rather than a lawyer!
Quite tough CW given by Avatar.
