4A SPACE WALK = astronaut's routine { WEAK CLASP anagram} 11A NORTH STAR = heavenly body { THOR RANTS anagram} 22A AT SEA = Puzzled { pArTy ShE wAs , intervening letters}
Great travel across interstellar spaces, encountering stars, asteroids, wormholes, time travel, space walk and more!!!! Thank you for an hour of Sunday well spent.
Of course, it is an interesting theme. 'Exploration of Space' by Artur Clark is one of my all time fav. That is not a science fiction, but a pure Science book written by him in 1953- long before the fist rocket was fired- but he foresaw not only space travel but Space station and human colonies in other planets!!
13A- Though I could get it from 'Chaos' and wp, I did not know Scholium/ Scholia until I went to the Dict. Also, I did not know 'Gloss' as 'A brief explanatory note'. Good clue. It probably developed as a short form of Glossary.
Reg 13A, nice solve @Jacob sir. @Padmanabhan sir, thanks, I hope 'limited-edition' works as last letter deletion indicator. Reg my first CW, yes it was a year ago. Hopefully I won't take another year for my next one :)
Title 'Breathtaking' is a cryptic reference to the outer space - For all the 'spectacular' things that exist out there and how it quite literally takes our breath away!
Here's a list of the themed words,
Across: 4a - Spacewalk 11a - North Star 28a - Doctor Who
Down: 3d - Wormholes 6d - Earth 17d - Telescope 18d - Asteroid 21d - Landed
My sincere thanks to all the solvers and commenters. And to Colonel for blogging my second grid. Learned a great deal from all your inputs from my first grid in 2024.
