    1. Not really. Typhoon comes from toofan and is used for tropical storms in India and China.

      USA has Hurricanes and Tornadoes

      Typhon and toofan trace back to greek typhon.

      But standard usage for arabian sea and bay of bengal storms is cyclone not typhon
      So it should either be cyclone or toofan.
