Going great!!!!
ReplyDelete17D:if it is note(n) taken(-n) from snuggled(held closely) for money(m),
ReplyDeleteisn't the solution smuggled with secretly trafficked as definition?
+1
Delete"take" can be an insertion indicator (as intended in the clue) but it can also be a deletion. In which case A taken for B means B replaces A, and the answer becomes SMUGGLED. In the absence of crossings, there is no way to verify if solving on paper. Bit ambiguous IMHO
Right I put down SMUGGLED. But for the NINA it has to be N
DeleteCongratulations on 150 puzzles Hypatia!
ReplyDeleteAND is also hidden in the grid (HUNDRED AND FIFTY)
ACHIEVEMENT and SATISFIED also nina words!
And to cap it all, there is a clue acrostic - pick 1st letters of all clues (across followed by down)!

ReplyDeleteThe Hindu Businessline crosswords were weekly so that milestone took only 2 years plus. The Hindu milestone has taken over 6 years and feels sweeter :)"
