In scientific literature too, it is a common abbreviation.

Pass is just travel.
DeletePossible. Pass as a verb means move, so travel. Similarly, pass means a Degree given. So, graduate.
DeleteAccording to Cambridge, Pass Degree(Noun) means a Degree (Graduate =Degree, Holder of Degree)
In Indian English, passed out is graduated. In SBE, pass is just finishing a course whereas in American English , pass is just passing a course and doesn't mean graduating itself.
