  1. 9d: Of course I had A SOP TO ... for long; then I worked out the anag, not by my usual method of simply staring at the anag fodder but by paper work. "Cerberus" I knew from my reading of lit. but the idiom itself was new to me. By the way, the c is pronounced k.

  3. 18d: In THC 7345 (Apr 23, 2002) the clue was Greek letter starts with a Hindu chant (7)
    (not taking into account a large part of the word!)

  5. jack-o'-lantern, I think, is something like will-o'the-wisp.
    I don't see how toadstool comes in.
    Got it from wordplay but we need to check.
