  1. 28A. Probably STREET CLOTHES. Don't know what is 24D

  2. I think STREET CLOTHES is correct. With this answer, 24D can be PHIL

  3. 18D - How Chairperson and Armrest are related?

  4. 22D See http://dictionary.die.net/lithe which gives meaning of lithe as listen

  6. 18D
relating the clue to the answer requires some imagination. An armrest branches out of a chair to help the person sitting on the chair support his arm

  7. Thanks Suresh. I think part of the question or hint is part of the answer for 18D. I don't recall what this kind of clue is called in cryptic crosswords...

  8. Can someone please elaborate on 8D too?

  9. A house would be a theatre or auditorium. Hence Stage Fright

  10. Thanks again Suresh! 8D makes sense now. Whay am I not thinking house as a theatre/auditorium??? :-)

  11. @Suresh & Sembhayya,
Did you'll shout 'EUREKA'? Well done. I did think of street clothes but settled for 'TOOTHED' thinking of a gear train but then STREET TOOTHED makes no sense, so it is STREET CLOTHES

  12. No eureka today. There are plenty of clues I did not get like lithe and corner seat. I think I need to take a back bench and listen a little
