    1. I had shared a pic of a backdrop at a Bengali wedding, which I had received in email, with a few friends in this forum.

It read, '.............beds...............'. Kishore found it quite explcit.

    4. Not all. Most. I know many Bengalis who do not have a trace of their famous accent.

    5. Raghunath, I once had a friend from the North East who used to pronounce my name exactly the same way. It's perhaps a regional thing - particular to languages of that part of the country.

    1. 3 From now on, go in support of the tailless (10) HENCEFORTH

      I took it as:
      From= defn
      now on=hence
      in support= for
      the tailless=the-e

    2. I had the same doubt as Raghu, and henceforth = from now on. Not sure that 'from' alone is sufficient as the definition and 'go' would have no role?

I thought may be 'go' was a typo for 'so' (=hence)

      Hopefully Gridman will clarify.

    3. Raghu R for Regiment is in the list of single letter indicators available with crossword compiler, but I haven't seen it in Chambers or ODE.

    4. I thought of the typo angle, but it doesn't fit in the wordplay.

    5. If it's "so," wordplay fits, but surface doesn't work

    6. Oops! That's what I meant.

  7. The photo of these revolutionaries will bring to our mind that the clue (or part thereof) “Revolutionary” with 3 letters can refer, closer home, to a revolutionary other than “Che”.
Incidently, not only does Che’s photo appear in TH today it is present in the above post too...

  8. go = hence
Hence (interj) has the archaic meaning of begone! away! (used imperatively for 'depart')

  13. Ref 10A.

Remember the famous quotation attributed to Lord Acton (1887): "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." He went on to write, "Great men are almost always bad men!"

Absolutism is also used to refer to the theory that holds values, principles, etc., to be absolute and not relative, dependent, or changeable. Ethicists frequently debate on whether absolutism or relativism is right in a given situation.

  14. Just came back home.

The solution HENCEFORTH has been explained above.

'Hence' is an interjection meaning 'go, away'

Another such word that also means 'go' is 'avaunt'.

A study of Shakespeare in my college days comes in handy at times.

  15. Simple and straightforward from Gridman..
Henceforth reminded me of Kenya' ex- president's tautological exhortation that reeked of 10 Across: "" From now on henceforth, I will not tolerate any rebels in the party "". I had mentioned this here earlier.

Greetings to all compatriots on India's Independence day !!

  16. Enjoyed the pre-independence special of Gridman, far away from home. Missing home and the Landmark Quiz at Chennai! The moment I saw Gridman out of turn, I knew there has to be something special, but still missed the Nina.
