    2. 'With' in the middle is confusing. Not sure if it is kosher while indicating last letters.
What I mean is from 'Case with grub' at bottom gives us only EB.

    1. Is No end the correct indicator to remove the first letter? It should be no start. Ends may be used to indicate both ends, but when end comes alone itis always the last letter.

      Delete
    2. I felt it could be used this way as well. Like when a word is written out left to right, there's one end and the other end.

      Delete
    3. No. Ends/ either end is ok. But when end is mentioned alone it is always taken as completion or last letter. Maybe, since it is a down clue top end may refer to the start. I am not sure about it though. Leave it to the experts.
