A clue from TOI Sunday CW2804 which reminded me of DD and a bandit:
ReplyDelete16 David's father may appear before James (5)
I was slow in getting 'fast'- 9D.
ReplyDeleteI have spotted a "grid girl"!
ReplyDeleteHaving to attend some afternoon sessions in today's 'lit for life', I was desperately looking for the time of the F1 race. Two papers proved unhelpful. The ToI gave me the info prominently. I am afraid I will have to miss live telecast of the motor race as it clashes with the other engagement.
After ET, now it is the turn of BRA.
ReplyDeleteBRA SPECIAL
Find out the BRA in the following Questions. The letters BRA should appear together in the answer. Send the answers to my email id. n.rengaswamy@gmail.com. Answer tomorrow. One example given.
1: Which is the striped BRA? Ans: zeBRA
2: Poisonous BRA?
3: Mathematical BRA?
4: Zodiacal BRA?
5: Magical BRA?
6: Religious BRA?
7: Metallic bra?
8: Anjelina Jolie's Bra?
9: Botany BRA?
10: Marketing BRA?
11: puctuation bra?
12: A room where BRA's are kept?
13: Bra which became the American President and inspired the whole world?
14: Which bra is very important for any vehicle?
Rengaswamy:
ReplyDeleteYou need to specify perhaps more clearly (I grant that you may have done so already) whether all of them end in -bra or whether the string may appear anywhere within the word.
A rummy thing in today's paper. The main paper, which would have been printed yesterday night, contains a corrected version of last Sunday's crossie, mentioning that the one in the Magazine (which would have been printed some days back) is incorrect. Our previous experience of TH's attitude to CWs has been one of 'get it, print it and forget it'.
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean that finally someone at The Hindu is paying more attention to the CW feature than we had experienced? If so, are we on our way to having a CW ed?
CV, having sent in my entries to Rengaswamy, may I add that one of them has two BRAs in it. If a pair of trousers is one garment, is this to be called a pair of bras or a quartet of bras :-)
ReplyDelete@CV 11.44
ReplyDeleteBRA can appear anywhere in the word as a string
I have already sent in all the answers except one - guess what!
ReplyDeleteKishore
ReplyDeleteWould you think that any of these admit of two answers?
CV, 6 & 10 definitely allow multiple words from the same root and I suspect 9 may spawn quite a few, though I put in the first thing that came to my mind.
ReplyDeleteBut let me not BRAg.
CV1207: No.13?
ReplyDeleteRather BRAzen of you, Rengaswamy! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am not upBRAiding you. You seem have got BRA on all our members' BRAins. Thanks for the cereBRAl exercise.
Guessed it !
ReplyDeleteTalking of bra's, there is one on the trees too.
ReplyDeleteMuch as I searched, I could not get any more for 9 other than the one I had used. But I came across this peculiar name:

Paddy, I always get a chuckle when I visit my local bank and find the chief designated as a tree dwelling primate boss.

ReplyDeleteWhat happened when the pole star moved to our neighbouring country?
ReplyDeleteHe became VETTEL PAK.
Not too many comments on todays CW itself, there being more interesting pursuits it would seem!
ReplyDeleteAnyway I enjoyed today's offering, a lazy Sunday morning affair. Didn't even realise 7D was an anagram!
Interestingly 'STRAIGHT' in 13D appears in almost exactly the same position as last week. Had a sense of deja vu, esp with last week's solution just below
Kishore 12:19
ReplyDeleteNo! Let Renga reveal it tomorrow!
Kishore @12:36. Good one.
ReplyDeleteCV,
ReplyDeleteHad a msg from Ajeesh confirming that he is the one who met you at The HIND Lit event yesterday.
Kishore@12.33-
ReplyDeleteI am sure you would be good at coding & decoding. It took a while for me to decipher Branch Manager out of your - shall I say clues?
TOI clue- it is Judah, right?
