    5. @R: I thought I will retain the ? as part of anagram. The doubt was whether the samosas or the cookies come first, being both 7 letters long.
      @DG: High hopes!

      BTW, 843, was an aside to the 841 and not to your comments.

  2. 6D I am sure that a lot of members might appreciate it if a link to the instrumental number La Cucaracha is added. It has been my long-time favourite, at least...

    1. Since the lyrics were difficult to understand, I always enjoyed listening to the instrumental rendition - guess it was by The Ventures or by Jumping Jewels. I cannot recollect exactly.

  3. Resemblance of the cucaracha's moustache to any person is purely coincidental

  5. I did not know the meaning of 'tuck' as a friar. Anyway, for the benefit of others who may be in a similar position, here is what free dictionary says-
    "(Myth & Legend / European Myth & Legend) English legend a jolly friar who joined Robin Hood's band and aided their exploits"

    Sankalak has started with a beauty (queen?)

    Put in 'night show' for 6D and struggled for a while. Does not this fit 'entertainment' part better?

    1. Forgot the tuck shop at school?

    2. Not all schools have them. In fact the one in the school where I studied has been shut down

      Delete
    3. We too did not have one. However, our constant friends at Mallory Towers, St. Clair's and Greyfriars always had them.

      The shop at Greyfiars could have been called Friar Tuck ;-) The appropriateness of the name would be terrific as HJR Singh would say

  11. Belated +1 for illegal. Thin edge of difference between the two.

    No tuck shop in our school, though it was a christian mission school. probably the Tamil medium killed it! Oh, what trouble I had to change over to English medium for my 1 tear Pre university course!
