  1. Liked many clues today. SUBPOENA took some time. OH DEAR, BRAINWASH - 'criminal' a new anagrind for me at least -, LIKEN, CORNEA, ENTITY, SICKLE, BLACK HOLE, HUE AND CRY, TOTE, JET SET and quite a few good ones.

    As the deadline approached, gave up at 27A.

    10A - Would someone see a connection between kick and b....?

  2. I had guessed PRONOUNS but the annotation could not be accounted for. Now I know from the blog.

  3. 10 Late kick, yielding one point (6) BEHIND Anno pending

    DD

    Behind
    a score worth one point, earned by putting the ball between a goal post and a behind post, or by the ball hitting a goal post, or by the ball being touched prior to passing between the goalposts.

    1. Well, i solved it as PERIOD. Taking ' late' as end/PERIOD & 'one point' as full stop/ PERIOD. Is it O.K.?

  5. Richard,
    Curiously subpoena was the first one I got being familiar with the term from my Perry Mason adventures!
    Nice Cw from Lightning which got filled with matching speed - barring a few of course.Kicking myself for missing the Black Hole which should have been seen easily(!) by good cluing.

    1. Paddy, you will be surprised to discover that I don't read novels, let alone Perry Mason stuff. I can easily proffer the pretext of job constraints. ;-)

  7. 25A - I have noticed that Switzerland's international vehicle registry and internet code CH (Confederatio Helvetica) is a favourite with setters.

  10. Nice one from Lightning ! I couldn't get 14 Across, otherwise OK with me but for a few annotations like BEHIND, OCHRE, TORERO and PRONOUNS.
    27A : Had it been 'regular' column instead of 'periodical' column, I could have got the Anno ! "Periodical" for odd letter choosing was new to me :)

  11. 3D : An assembly of stars working outside Brazilian city (5) ORION {O{RIO}N}

    RIO : One more city in the 'hit list' of present setters ! (Not to forget ERODE, TRIPOLI, OSLO etc) !!
