The Times crossword puzzles used to have a full stop at the end of each clue - even after all other publications dispensed with it. The Hindu Crossword for several years since 1971 also used to have these full stops as its first composer Admiral R D Katari was a great follower of the Times crossword and launched the feature in the paper when Mr G. Kasturi was its Editor. At some point later, THC too discarded the period. Mr Koti Rao, who is an old hand at crosswords, seems to be adhering to the practice.
