Some very good surfaces today. Had to struggle for Narwhal.
ReplyDeleteThank you Incognito.
+1 pure joy of cold solving. Except a brief stop at "act!".
DeleteSmooth sailing today except for a few blocks like 27A,20D.
ReplyDeleteSmart clue 22A!
It is easier to compile a hard crossword, but much harder to put together an easier one ! How do you manage ? Put more COGs INTO the wheel ?
ReplyDeleteGeneral Patton into Pentagon fit in to a T !

DeleteLots of great ones today. 27A would be tops for me. 19D, 22D also outstanding. In 1D and 4D, the connectors 'carrying' and 'wearing' are a bit misleading IMO, particularly as down clues.
ReplyDeleteWill a simple transposition- Group of nations oppose in the absence of king- make it alright, including surface reading?
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable as ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks , everyone for solving and commenting
