ReplyDelete5a Vagabond:runabout.
ReplyDelete23a Inuit is Canadian first nation. Anno in(t)uit,IMU.
ReplyDelete+1, although Col's anno is also logical
DeleteI had it as Col.
DeleteInnuit is a variant spelling of Inuit
DeleteIN(T)UIT is more direct, isn't it? That's how I solved it.
DeleteOpening comment by Col. :-)
ReplyDelete19d:Jack or Jacks.
ReplyDeleteLascar is a group of sailors, isn't it?
Lascar is an Oriental (orig Indian) sailor, as per Chambers.
DeleteIf you intended to mean Lashkar, yes you are right, it is a group! Ha ha!!
Some clues are cranium crackers ! Enjoyable though, coming from Skulldugger
ReplyDeleteI didn't solve RHEUMY and INWARD but felt pleased to have got the rest! A delicious puzzle.
ReplyDeleteThat was real rough, enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the clue for "in a mamber of speaking" please explain to make it easier for me to find the solution
ReplyDeleteIt is an indicator of homophone - rheumy/roomy.
DeleteIn a manner of speaking
ReplyDeleteSorry for typing error
A few red letters (while solving on line) led me to correct answers, though I still could not get annos for some clues. Blog to the rescue.
ReplyDeleteI did not know the setter is a lady until I saw Col.'s byline- not that it makles any difference. Ref. on top to THC setters says- aka Kurien, which does not give a clue. One of rare instances where I have been solving without knowing the setter.
Paddy, the setter is not a lady. I was referring to 23A and 15D
DeletePaddy's Literal assumption is quite.. ER.. literal
DeleteMy apologies.
ReplyDeleteBut why 23A?
I think he was referring to 13A
DeleteYes, you are right.
DeleteSorry, I meant to type 13A
DeleteOracle was enjoyable with few twists of lunacy oops lunar cycle!
ReplyDeleteTHC not seen in vizag edition on 17th and 18th
