    Regarding SEMINAR in yesterdays crossword, I got the Annotation from Chaturvasi over at the Orkut community and is as follows
    "SEMINA is from semina(-l). Seminal means major as in "XXX's book yyy on economics is a seminal work on the subject, and the R is from runs."
