  1. Doesn't 22d ring a bell? Recently a couple of clues in THC had glanced at only part of word breakups. So is the device OK? Some commenters here were unhappy about it, weren't they?

I too am surprised to note this but I think that in UK crosswords in book collections (not mainstream newspapers) I have come across similar clues.

But do you think it's lazy way of clueing?

    1. This one is a little different since it does indicate the first half of a city.

Don't get me wrong. I had no problem with the earlier clues you mentioned, just that this is a little different.

  2. Thanks, CV sir, for that marvellous architectural splendour house of Crosswords. Makes me feel like a dot, looking from the sky, as we all mortals are. All my life, I had lived in apartments and now I'm enjoying life in a Villa within a gated complex, constsntly getting reminded by my soul mate as to how she hates living anywhere at ground level, what with all moths, vermin and creepy crawlies making occasional visits only to be exterminated by IT. Eeeks, am I having a phobia against reptilian cratures like Lizards, and chameleons? It is a nightmare having to open the main door of the house at nights without one of them preceding me and encroaching into my doorstep, minatorily, to her great amusement at my childhood phobia.
As for crossword collectibles, will that architect give me a miniature of that edifice?

Recently I acquired a whole set of cups, mugs , coasters, icepail, etc from my daughter's would-be M-I-L in New York. I'd love to post the pictures here. Col: OK?

  3. A smooth sailing today. I liked TRISTRAM SHANDY and CAUTION and HALIFAX in particular. Had a 11down doing this at late hours 2345. Didn't have to 2Across much.

Thanks Col. I'll send the pictures to you of my crossword crockery and you can decide.
