  2. Come on people send in your entries.
I've received only 4 so far!! Don't worry your entries even if received late may be the all correct one and after all the winner is going to be picked at random from the all correct entries. If there are no all correct then it will go to the entry with the least errors.

  3. I got some at first look. My printer has conked out. Can't get the grid printed outside since it is a Sunday. Can't try solving manually. :-(

    1. Sorry I could not work on it since I could not download on Acrosslite earlier and I was on a flight and travelling after that. Look forward to the next one.

  5. Looks like the CW has turned out to be a humdinger of a CW as most of the regulars who chip in with answers on the Sunday specials have not sent in their entries :-(

  6. A fitting finale to the fourth year of operations.

The blog presents a true critique of the setters' talent and skills, and portrays them ('warts and all'). Any special effort, like a thematic crossword, a nina and a pangram, is quickly spotted and commended. Flawed setting is also commented on. The setters also get an opportunity to react to the comments. Several of them have come forward to unmask themselves in this blog.

The blog has intricately woven itself into being an integral part of our daily lives. We look forward to K's cartoons, diverting anecdotes and histories, and the Sunday Specials.

We take pride in the achievements of our co-bloggers as authors, scriptwriters, poets and setters. We have seen history rewound for us in the form of the very first Cryptic set by Admiral for The Hindu.

We have celebrated national days and venerated heroes in various walks of life.

This blog has been a veritable learning resource centre for newcomers. That they have quickly come up to speed and are matching mettle with veterans speaks in large measure for the quality of this blog and the guidance by those very veterans.

We also get to learn of (and empathise with) the likes, dislikes and circumstances of fellow bloggers.

Three Cheers to the THC Crossword Corner blog and Col. Hip, Hip, Hurray!

PS: I have picked out the three clues which I expect K will honour with this graphic toons. Let me see if my guesses come out right.

    1. SR,
You could send the clues you have picked to Kishore and I shall put in his cartoons with the solutions on 04 Feb

    2. SR, you are free to send in your suggestions directly to me at kishoremrao@hotmail.com. I have already drawn one for 17a and I plan to draw some more today morning. So please send your mail early. I don't want to inundate the special with too many of them.

  7. As of 11 PM only 6 entries received. I'm not saying if they are all correct as I have yet to check them. So those who have not sent in their entries can still do so upto 8 PM tomorrow ie 03 Feb

    1. Deepak:
As expressed by other bloggers, it can't be that there are not enough entries. I have informed you by email of my inability to send in my entry in the format suggested. Like me, there could be others too-- say like Richard.
      Is there no other way?

Screen shots and photo print via paints etc are quite no areas of computing. Maybe, I'll learn them by and by but what happens to the entry , which is now time-limit-free? I tried my best to send you some [pic of the solved attempt as four segments. Any good? Naah !!

    2. Deepak: Quite unlikely that that there are not enough entries ! Could be that most of them have not found the system of Acroos lite very user friendly. As I told you in my em,ail. I have managed to complete the crossie which is a magnificent attempt at compiling.. Like me, ichard ahs also found himsel;facing a fire wall ! So is there no other way of reaching the entries ?

I had tried to take a camera chot of my entry with four separate segments. Did it help?

I wish we are able to see many entries in an easier format !

  8. Deepak: My congrats to you for the wonderful Jumbo pack of gift on our anniversary. A very fitting
tribute to the talent of the compiler.

  9. I would like to know how many of the Sunday special regular commenters did not submit their entries because they did not complete the CW. Please do submit your entries even if there are unsolved answers. How do you'll know if the others who have submitted have sent in all the correct answers?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I have completed but CANNOT submit due to as they say: Technical reasons :1

    ReplyDelete
  11. Col Sir,
I did not submit because I am left with 6 more clues (3 across and 3 down) yet to be solved. As I am not tech savvy, I'll have to wait for my daughter's arrival (from office) to help me submit the incomplete/completed CW answers.

    ReplyDelete
  12. For all those who are not tech savvy, all you have to do is type out the answers in a word document and send them across (just type the clue number and the answer, if you want to show the annotation type that out as well next to the answer.)

    1. This is a good idea that came in too late? I'll try and reconstruct my solution all over again and send it right away !

  13. Nicely constructed pangram. Was looking for the Nina but have not been able to spot it

  14. Col Sir,
Submitted the incomplete Sunday Spl Cw just now. Out of 52, I could solve only 46. Hope, at least 40 of them will be correct ! Took instructions over phone from my daughter to submit my answers !
It's a great learning curve for me, to know the technicalities of 'internet' :)
