    1. Sorry - amending the last one: 20D is FAT *BOB* and not BOY - both are Harley bikes, but "Robert" should clearly give BOB.

    3. Thanks, Ajeesh - once I got the answer, I stopped looking for further wordplay! :(

To add the right annotation: Iin addition to the dessert already mentioned, AK (cAKe essentially) is, of course, the abbreviation for the state of Alaksa. Given that the dessert is also cake "essentially" (the cake being covered with ice-cream and the meringue), I wonder whether that makes the clue &lit.

      As Aadhi/Tara might tell Tara/Aadhi.
I am referring to the Tamil film OKK.
BTW, one of the two names seems old-fashioned.

    If I may add a comment -
Two-letter and three-letter unches may be OK for these online crosswords in blogs and messageboards but if aimed for publication by quality newspapers/magazines, they need to be avoided.
Yes, some 13x13 grids even in NIE or elsewhere may have these.
In any case I think there are too many here.

    1. Sorry - am just a beginner - will you explain that to me please - an example may help

    2. I have explained that before but I don't mind doing so again.
In the grid where an ac/dn letter slot is not the same as that of a dn/ac letter slot, it is an unch, short for unchecked.
An unchecked letter is one that is not a crossing one.
      That is, it stands alone.
      Now look at the grid.
In 1 ac and 6 ac, there are two consecutive unches.
In 14 dn there are three.

One of the clues of last Sunday's TOI CW is "Major currency of China" (7)
The answer given is Yangtze- a major river of China.
I have come across 'flower' being used for a river, but this is the first time I see currency being used. Is it okay? Current- Currency?

    1. In a river there are currents.
Where there are currents, there is currency.
In a cryptic sense, it is a river.
