  43. Hi all.
Planning a trip to Munnar in the weekend starting 20th may.
Due to some constraints, Train is the default choice. ( i would have pref flying to kochi and a rd drive back.)

As of now it looks like, vijayawada to coimabtore and take a taxi from there.

Is it OK. Any alternate plan! (Starting from Vijayawada,so no direct train to Madurai. Changing trains at chennai looks time consuming).

Any advise on Stay and iternary (local) also will be helpful.

    1. Chennai - Cochin train leaves from Chennai Central where train from Vijayawada will arrive. No going out- not sure about waiting time. Vijayawada - Coimbatore train may take long. These non trunk route trains are always slow and late also.
As for itenerary our former blogger Richard's HQ is Mangalore. He would be the best guide. If you want I can give you his contact details.

    2. Coimbatore to Munnar is a long drive (4 1/2 hours), it's better to take a train to Angamaly which is before Ernakulam and take a taxi from there still a 3 hour drive.
Nothing much to see at Munnar other than tea gardens and a waterfall plus a lake where I think there is boating. I've been three to four times, always stayed at Sterling, Mahindra resort is also close to Sterling, though both are about 20Km away from Munnar town proper. You can also take a Jeep ride to Kolukkumalai Tea estate and visit their tea factory. Look up Google and decide what you want to see
