  13. You are right. There is a problem with the picture here.

    1. I generally post one answer. And then I reply to my own post with the the other answers. This ensures I can post whenever I find an answer and also all my answers are in a single place. Is this fine ?

      Delete
  20. Which one ?. Becoz, i have now put all at one place

    ReplyDelete
  21. 25ac is incorrect.
    I'd thought of a different anno for Enemy

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have made a mistake with clue numbering. 24d and 25d are swapped

    ReplyDelete
  23. Replacement
    21a PASCAL - unit of pressure
    pressure - p
    when - as
    unit of heat - cal
    {p}{as}{cal}
    Pressure on double duty?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, pressure on double duty. Unit also tries to span pressure and heart.

  25. 10a STUPOR = Coma
    STumbleUPonORigins

    13a LIBERATES= Releases

  26. Quite a few left for the solution to be posted. Here's what I have listed:
    Across: 5, 9, 10, 13, 14, 16, 19, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28
    Down: 4, 6, 7, 8, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24 (incorrect numbered)

  27. 9A- Manitoba- State- (Ambition)*. But I am unable to account for AI transformation.
    Sorry Col. This is my 2nd and I will stop with 2.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe think about AI transformation for a minute more. You are close.

      Delete
    2. Got it. Thank you for the tip. Exchange A for I.
      There are 2 I's in ambition. Change one to A and then anagram it.
      I was done in by the (intended?) red herring of Artificial Intelligence!

      Delete
    3. So, the correct way of putting it would be (Ambition- I+A)*= Manitoba

      Delete
  28. I had posted a list of clues for which the solution hasn't yet been posted. Looks like it's gone to spam.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also looking for an alternate anno for Enemy.
    And, what is Rome doing in 2d

    ReplyDelete
  30. San Marino is inside Italy- but outside Rome.

  31. 5 ac asleep DD
    6 dn saturdays -yesterday
    a turd -crap s ( a turd)ays.
    8 dn port side.left -port side -right

  32. I thought about it this way. The first one people think about when asked about a tiny country is Vatican City, which is inside Rome.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 14A- linked-added a url; (b)linked-hesitated;
    19A-flouted-defied; F(lout)ed;
    22D-handel-composer; name is handle; anagram of handle

    ReplyDelete
  34. Still left open:
    Across: 16, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28
    Down: 4, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24 (should be 25)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I had assumed the anno for 16ac differently

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tempered= massaged. So Costing silver is (massaged- ag)= massed.
    One is of course A.
    Am I right?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ya, that's how I had set it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Manipulate, tamper are given as meanings of massage. So, I felt tampered would have been better than tempered. Tempering generally used in metallurgy for treating/softening of metals.

      Like to know the role of 'so' in the clue.

      Delete
    2. Looks like it has been added only for surface reading. Even so it is confusing. OR capitalisation (to indicate Other Ranks) adds to the confusion.

  40. Replacement
    26a TEEING - starting
    pouring - teeming
    money - m
    {tee(-m)ing}

    ReplyDelete
  41. 24d, full and half, i' m an ape
    Solution = chimp
    which is 50% of Chimpanzee, which also is the same

    ReplyDelete
  42. 27a, rang a bell = reminded
    A roe back = deer <=
    Mind = object

    ReplyDelete
  43. 24 a = campa, project revived by Reliance

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bloc = camp
    A = a
    So, campa

    ReplyDelete
  45. 23A still seems to be pending. Can any one do it? It looks like there is a problem there. At least I am not able to get it.

  46. 26A ha been done by Ramesh@2.47

    ReplyDelete
  47. I had done 28A after a comment by setter about it- day out.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 25D done by Gemini. No money giving MNEY. Not quite happy about it- removal of O.
    No 35 D- obviously 25.
    So only 23 A. Either setter or anyone can do it and close.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I had swapped the clues for 24d and 25d while typing. That was an error

    ReplyDelete
  50. Enemy was thought of as pronouncing the letters n-m-e

    ReplyDelete
  51. 23ac is Even Money. The meaning was meant to imply equal chances. I understand that you all dislike the clueing here. O and E were the even letters of Money.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Equally does not fit in. It has to be equal. Even money bet,it is said.
    To put it grammatically even money is an adj and equally is an adverb. I hope my grammar is right.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Enjoyed doing it in spite of a few doubts and clarifications. Good start.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I now understand what the problem is with this clue- enu is 5,4 whereas even money is 4,5. No wonder we could not do it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks for all the feedback. Thanks to all those who attempted. Thanks to Col. for giving the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 20D- Deny- (definitely- Deny it)*
    Can it be called semi &Lit?

    ReplyDelete
  57. The thought was Deny for Definitely not. (Definitely - file it)*

    ReplyDelete
  58. I see the point that "not" coming in between the anagram fodder and what to subtract and then the indicator is not good clueing.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks a lot, Sathia.
    I have 2 more in the pipeline, but now I need to check them again and rework some of the clues.
