  1. Hi everybody

Col, when you are back from Hosur, please receive my sincere thanks for getting me out of the mindset that the Sunday Hindu c/ws are pretty tough. Your blog has done wonders.

6D - The Lord of the Flies novelist? (7) - D?C?E?S Lord of the flies novelist is Golding, but that does not fit here!

Could be a goof-up here. GOLDING is the correct answer. But only DICKENS fits in.

  2. 6DOWN: DICKENS

Found out from googling that Lord of the Flies means DEVIL. DICKENS also means DEVIL (What the dickens/devil!)

  4. I haven't done this but came to say that I wrote to the readers' editor and also sundaypost about mistake in numbering but they have ignored them.
Of course, it doesn't alter the crosswords but careless subs making carelses mistakes are getting away with it while people of an older generation in older setups would have squirmed and lost sleep over such editorial mistakes.

  5. Good research, Sandhya, on the Lord of the Flies. Had never heard of the devil being known so. No wonder the household flies are so devilish!

BTW, your post and mine on DICKENS came almost together. I was a minute earlier.

    Re: crossword serial numbering error

The logic is simple. Few like this blog's visitors might know about the error. An apology from them would have thrown it to public domain.

I guess you are referring to my name typed twice in one of the posts above. I did realize it at once, but was a wee bit lazy to delete and re-post.
