ReplyDeleteHis coat is ragged
ReplyDeleteAnd blown awry
He droops his head
And he knows not why
Something has happened
Something has gone
The world is changing
His work is done
But his old heart aches
With a heavier load
And he stands and wonders
And stares at the road
These lines are from the poem 'Dobbin' by Alfred Noyes (21 AC). Dobbin was a horse, not a crossword solver :)

ReplyDeleteI feel it is AFTER minus T (time out). Can someone further work on the anno?
BTW, I have come across some problems with posting today, irrespective of the browsers - IntExpl, Firefox and Chrome. Any glitch in the functioning of the server of this blog?
The fact that there are comparatively fewer posts since 8-30 am strengthens my suspicion.
Refer my post regarding mathematical limit yesterday at 8.14 pm. Today proves it. Like excellence, there is no limit to ....... It is all in the mind. Amidst the encircling gloom, one can but recall Shah Jahan’s description of Kashmir ‘If there be heaven on earth, it is here, it is here’ duly paraphrased: “If you have a LOCO-AUTO-MOTIVE, come here, come here’.
ReplyDeleteI personally feel that sometimes all the uncertainty adds to the thrill of solving the puzzle and then wondering how a word which fits the crossings tallies with the definition, however awry.
Looking for bright spots, U-GANDA (gander) reminded of HOOKAH(hooker) which came a few days back. The brightest, of course, was NAMBY PAMBY which reminded of the poem, which I suspect I have already uploaded once. CABIN CLASS reminded of Tharoor’s Cattle Class.
Richard, I too experienced upload trouble. Time for your games to begin !
@Richard
ReplyDelete"I feel it is AFTER minus T (time out). Can someone further work on the anno?"
I think NJ had in mind FOR = AFTER
Hello from Calcutta or Kolkatta, seems to be limited activity today??
ReplyDeleteHi Deepak
ReplyDeleteI have had uploading problems on your blog during the morning hours today. I had mentioned this in one of the earlier posts. Kishore too expressed the same view.
As for the fewer posts, another explanation could be that perhaps the visitors here have realized the futility of crossing swords over someone else's follies. ;)
