ReplyDeleteA crossword ritual often sets the initial clue this way.

Really enjoyed this one. By far the most enjoyable clue today.
Quite a good puzzle today and of course the standout is acrostic.
ReplyDeleteIs Kayaker a proper synonym for Canoeist?
ReplyDeleteKodaikanal is surely healthier, offering rejuvenating excursions for me.
ReplyDeletecan someone explain how you get unison?
ReplyDeleteA request to JayD (and others who may be new to this blog): please don't post the current solutions in the previous days' posts. Although I begin solving the crossword long after the Colonel puts the solutions up, I however check the previous day's comments section to follow up on discussions and such, if any. Thankfully, today I didn't see beyond ASKANCE.
ReplyDeleteVasant@15:14,
The French = UN (one; it's not an exact translation)
IS (from the clue)
"To be ON" is to be in agreement. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/On)
And 'amalgamated' asks you to put together those three words.

ReplyDeleteI is not removed, if I is added to Martin it becomes the drink Martini
Swallow// a drink// I needed (6) - MARTINi
ReplyDeleteMartin is a swallow and to get a drink, I is needed: MARTIN+I = MARTINI
Martin needed to swallow a drink? :)
