You have quite a big encyclopaedia, Deepak That picture o SCENE is an example.
ReplyDelete11 - The stage, especially of an ancient Greek theatre (5) - SCENE [E]
ReplyDeleteshould be SKENE - In ancient Greek theatre, this was a building behind the playing area that was originally a hut for the changing of masks and costumes but eventually became the background before which the drama was enacted.

Suresh @ 8:38,
ReplyDeleteWith WWW at one's disposal the sky is the limit to my encyclopaedia ;-)
Today's puzzle was a lot better in comparison. I had the stage as scene too, but Skene looks like is the correct answer.
ReplyDeleteI still feel the crossword lacked eclat though was a gallant effort and I cant wait for the skene to change. Not many bloopers today yet did not totally satisfy. The X factor is missing in these crossies.
ReplyDelete25 - A model left Costa Rica going round the island! (7) - CORSICAt*
ReplyDeleteCORSICA*(-a)(-t)
Ajay,
ReplyDeleteThe skene changes tomorrow and will remain so till the 30th after which we'll be back to Square one, maybe, way below square one I should say.
Thanks Sandhya,
ReplyDeleteManna & NJ tends to make one careless :-)
Reasonably good, and no red herrings today. We will find out about SKENE vs SCENE tomorrow I guess, but anyway I have learnt a new word!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I think Anno for 15d should be {AS}{SAIL}{ANT}.
ReplyDeleteAny comments?
That's right Bhala. I did not notice that it was given differently in the post
ReplyDelete27A Interestingly 'FIDDLER' also fits this clue perfectly. Actually had that as a placeholder for some time (and wasted time)
