    Great cartoon. Several caricatures featuring BO's ears are presently doing the rounds.

  3. Nice to hear about a good cartoon from our own ACE!

    9A- Gendarme is a French policeman. Is it accepted without any indication as such?

    Liked the database!

  4. 'a' could be tricky.
    26A- it forms a vital part of the answer. (Def. 'tribe' to be made bold)
    21A- Why 'a'- just secretary would do?

  6. I am scribacious.
    The last word in 21a could have been 'amanuensis'.
    In the past a secretary may have taken notes to transcribe them and submit to her boss in form and style but now they do only key jobs. I am referring to the keyboard of the PC). Some may go after the key of the boss' home.

    1. :) Just to avoid a repeat of that discussion, once I saw KKK's puzzle, I had sent in a correction: Defence engineer working around a smithy initially (6).

      As luck would have it, TH did not take the correction for some reason.

      Caution! Tiger, perhaps circling avenue (6) CAVEAT {C{AVE}AT}-- can any one analyse and explain where the AVE features in the clue?

      My parsing: Caution-- warning, alert, CAVE-- A from avenue and T from Tiger. Am I wrong? CAVEAT EMPTOR !!

  12. Hi Raju

    Ave2, ave
    abbreviation for
    (Social Science / Human Geography) avenue

    Caution! Tiger, perhaps circling avenue (6) CAVEAT {C{AVE}AT}
    Tiger, perhaps = CAT
    Circling -encapsulation indicator
    Avenue = AVE

  13. Agree, Ajeesh. Thanks but is my annotation not valid?

    Again, why Social Science and Human Geography ? It could be a simple abbreviation of Avenue as Ave ?

    1. Raju,

      The intended anno is the one given by Col.

      Caution (in the noun form) = Warning = Caveat
      Tiger, perhaps = Cat
      Avenue = Ave (from chambers)

  14. Ajeesh@2:55,
    I think the clue should be classified as a CD.

  15. Hi Raju,
    Sorry to mention that the above definition is from thefreedic

    Caution! Tiger, perhaps circling avenue (6)

    My parsing: Caution-- warning, alert, CAVE-- A from avenue and T from Tiger. Am I wrong? CAVEAT EMPTOR !!

    Where is the definition part in the above anno ? T for tiger? Duty of perhaps?
