DeleteGood one Sandhya. Had fun at Goa?
DeleteHad a great time, thank you :)
Delete19 Gangster has King of Sweden listening eagerly (3,4) ALL EARS {AL}{L EAR}{S}
ReplyDeleteNO HEARING AID REQUIRED
Great cartoon. Several caricatures featuring BO's ears are presently doing the rounds.
Nice to hear about a good cartoon from our own ACE!
ReplyDelete9A- Gendarme is a French policeman. Is it accepted without any indication as such?
Liked the database!
'a' could be tricky.
ReplyDelete26A- it forms a vital part of the answer. (Def. 'tribe' to be made bold)
21A- Why 'a'- just secretary would do?
Greased Lightning, today!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the CW. Thank you, and a very good morning to all.
Thanks for the avatar!
DeleteWelcome to a new face... the person was already known...
DeleteI am scribacious.
ReplyDeleteThe last word in 21a could have been 'amanuensis'.
In the past a secretary may have taken notes to transcribe them and submit to her boss in form and style but now they do only key jobs. I am referring to the keyboard of the PC). Some may go after the key of the boss' home.
awomanuensis work better than amanuensis !

ReplyDeleteNo.10891, 30 Sep 2013, Klue Klux Klan
4 Cause of beheading: betrayal (6) REASON (tREASON)
Remind me of a recent discussion:)
:) Just to avoid a repeat of that discussion, once I saw KKK's puzzle, I had sent in a correction: Defence engineer working around a smithy initially (6).
DeleteAs luck would have it, TH did not take the correction for some reason.
TH did not take the correction for some reason.
DeleteSo they betrayed you?
And should become Indu
DeleteOMG, does this mean you'd submitted this puzzle a year ago?
DeletePerhaps, he might have submitted it in mid September 2013.
Deletehad to refer to dictionary to find out about CV's 'aman...' ! My vocabulary is so poor! Yes, taking notes,shorthand, typewriter all seem to be things of the past!
ReplyDeleteI thought that it must be some disease.
Delete...and Kishore made it a complicated one ! (At 11:20)
DeleteQuite an enjoyable puzzle from Lightning.
ReplyDelete10A: Writer reversing trend on operations research, or something along those lines, would have been better, I feel.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I had submitted it "10 Writer reversing trend on operations research (6)". TH omitted the "on" link word.
DeleteSomething told me that that was probably what had happened.
DeleteWhen, oh when, is this paper going to get a capable CW editor!
Good streaks of lights from Lightning.
DeleteCaution! Tiger, perhaps circling avenue (6) CAVEAT {C{AVE}AT}-- can any one analyse and explain where the AVE features in the clue?
My parsing: Caution-- warning, alert, CAVE-- A from avenue and T from Tiger. Am I wrong? CAVEAT EMPTOR !!
Ave=Avenue
Delete18 Cheap record of information? (8) DATABASE {DATA}{BASE}
ReplyDeleteas per clue it is base data?
My intention was that it should be taken as a CD.
DeleteHi Raju
ReplyDeleteAve2, ave
abbreviation for
(Social Science / Human Geography) avenue
Caution! Tiger, perhaps circling avenue (6) CAVEAT {C{AVE}AT}
Tiger, perhaps = CAT
Circling -encapsulation indicator
Avenue = AVE
Agree, Ajeesh. Thanks but is my annotation not valid?
ReplyDeleteAgain, why Social Science and Human Geography ? It could be a simple abbreviation of Avenue as Ave ?
Raju,
DeleteThe intended anno is the one given by Col.
Caution (in the noun form) = Warning = Caveat
Tiger, perhaps = Cat
Avenue = Ave (from chambers)
Ajeesh@2:55,
ReplyDeleteI think the clue should be classified as a CD.
Hi Raju,
ReplyDeleteSorry to mention that the above definition is from thefreedic
Caution! Tiger, perhaps circling avenue (6)
My parsing: Caution-- warning, alert, CAVE-- A from avenue and T from Tiger. Am I wrong? CAVEAT EMPTOR !!
Where is the definition part in the above anno ? T for tiger? Duty of perhaps?
Thanks Richard and Chaturvasi Sir!
