    1. I will participate in the initial rounds, but may take a rain check if I qualify further. But I do not plan to be aggressively competitive.

    2. Same here. I don't like to be work under time constraints and deadlines. For the pleasure of participation, I shall attempt all of them. I fared well in the last term.

  3. Kishore,
A doubt about Mercedes. Is that how the name was coined?

    1. I vaguely remember that it was some lady's name. Will have to check wiki. BTW, what is an Indian bufallow wearing a three pointed star around its neck called?

      Mercedes Bhains

There used to be a pic of it on the net some days back.

  6. The word is spelt correctly in the original in The Guardian. Don't know how the mistake occurred at this end.

    1. Looks like they corrected it later as these clues were picked up on the day they first appeared

    2. Similar thing has happened once before also. The later correction in Guardian is not carried out by TH.

  18. click on login for practice puzzle. it will take you to the crossword, there you click on lnkplay, then the grid will appear where you will be able to enter, save and submit

  19. Got back & submitted my entry. Don't expect to get any pts from this one

  20. Hah !! At last !. Completed the puzzle with much hassle, though the time taken was so little, but the filling in part , saving and submitting process took me back and forth with the remark'' this website is not available''. Too cumbersome system !

    ReplyDelete

    1. Do not save. Just submit. If you save you may have to redo the entire grid, which is quite painful

      Delete
  21. More than solving skills it takes a great deal of patience to fill in the grid and submit. Wonder whether this competition is a test of patience, rather than skill

    ReplyDelete
  22. AcrossLite grid is easy on the fingers ,as the cue jumps to the next block.. Here, one has to keep moving from block to block and then finally, when you hit Save, it gives you an irritating ""Web site not available " comment, I had to redo the puzzle at least seven times and finally I hit Submit and even then I got the same answer and to my relief, it was finally accepted. If time is of the essence, there is certainly a disadvantage to some solvers like you and me.

I do hope that the organizers would take some steps to ease up this situation.

Patience.cannot and should not lead to frustration !!
