All the very best to IXL participants. The game should be afoot around 11
ReplyDeleteI will participate in the initial rounds, but may take a rain check if I qualify further. But I do not plan to be aggressively competitive.
DeleteSame here. I don't like to be work under time constraints and deadlines. For the pleasure of participation, I shall attempt all of them. I fared well in the last term.
DeleteGood luck to all our fellow bloggers who go as soldiers. Fight on full blast, under the Col.
DeleteMy 1029 was in response to Paddy's 933 below
DeleteDoes it mean that you are not participating?
ReplyDeleteLet me add my best wishes to all the participants and in particular to the holder of the trophy!
Kishore,
ReplyDeleteA doubt about Mercedes. Is that how the name was coined?
I vaguely remember that it was some lady's name. Will have to check wiki. BTW, what is an Indian bufallow wearing a three pointed star around its neck called?
DeleteMercedes Bhains
There used to be a pic of it on the net some days back.
23a Is it imagin A tive or imagin I tive? Which is correct?
ReplyDeleteYou are right Ram- it IS A- according to Chambers & Free Dictionary
ReplyDeleteThe word is spelt correctly in the original in The Guardian. Don't know how the mistake occurred at this end.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they corrected it later as these clues were picked up on the day they first appeared
DeleteSimilar thing has happened once before also. The later correction in Guardian is not carried out by TH.
DeleteGood observation Ram.
Best wishes to you Col. for a repeat
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteReporting live from the National Sports Club of India at Mumbai where IXL-2014 is being launched. The organisers have honoured me by flying me in to attend the event.
All the best to all participants.
Hi Col: That's great news !! Enjoy the rains in aamchi Mumbai and also do well to score a second this year too !!
DeleteThanks Sir. :)
DeleteGreat to know that you are there at the event, Deepak
DeleteNo rains here
ReplyDeleteIXL is yet to come on
DeleteYes, still the practice puzzle link only is appearing.
DeleteGood to her that. I thought I was having a problem with my computer
DeleteProbably some delay in the launch
DeleteMust be busy with the inaugural rites? Col: Will you kindly alert all of us when the starter gun is fired on the screen there?
ReplyDeleteStill not up

DeleteHi everyone...

Am I missing something like any plug ins? java is installed and other java based links are working..i ve tried on all browswers as well as on my tab but no success...are others facing the same problem?
It is the same case with everyone. No problem. The game starts only at 12.45 pm
DeleteMaddy, your profile pic shows your bewilderment
DeleteGood observation, Suresh!
DeleteGame not started yet! Next announcement at ?????
ReplyDeleteWaste of time waiting for the opening.
ReplyDeleteThe site must be registering high number of clicks
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be not fully organized ?
ReplyDeleteI quit. All the best folks. Hope to join next week
ReplyDeleteMay the most patient win
DeleteOur govt hospitals have the most number of patients
DeleteSite opened at last. Best of luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteOfficially launched at 1:10PM
ReplyDeleteLaunch at a lunch!
DeleteNot able to get to their CW quiz page. Can Renga or anyone help?
ReplyDeleteclick on login for practice puzzle. it will take you to the crossword, there you click on lnkplay, then the grid will appear where you will be able to enter, save and submit
ReplyDeleteGot back & submitted my entry. Don't expect to get any pts from this one
ReplyDeleteHah !! At last !. Completed the puzzle with much hassle, though the time taken was so little, but the filling in part , saving and submitting process took me back and forth with the remark'' this website is not available''. Too cumbersome system !
ReplyDeleteDo not save. Just submit. If you save you may have to redo the entire grid, which is quite painful
DeleteMore than solving skills it takes a great deal of patience to fill in the grid and submit. Wonder whether this competition is a test of patience, rather than skill
ReplyDeleteAcrossLite grid is easy on the fingers ,as the cue jumps to the next block.. Here, one has to keep moving from block to block and then finally, when you hit Save, it gives you an irritating ""Web site not available " comment, I had to redo the puzzle at least seven times and finally I hit Submit and even then I got the same answer and to my relief, it was finally accepted. If time is of the essence, there is certainly a disadvantage to some solvers like you and me.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that the organizers would take some steps to ease up this situation.
Patience.cannot and should not lead to frustration !!
