Nice treat of Cakes & Ale by Cymothoid.Enjoyable fare.
ReplyDeleteNice Debut.
Thank you! Glad you like it!
Delete19dN Wine quality that is the heart of proseccos (7) DRYNESS [E]
ReplyDeleteIt's not an E
Delete23 ELYSIUMS = Avalon, Valhalla
ReplyDelete(StYLE <-- with I in SUM*)
One of the two indirect anagrams I saw in the puzzle
25 LOSSY = protocol
waste = grot out of gLOSSY rot
19 DRYNESS = Quality of wine
I think this is just a simple definition assuming proseccos are dry wines (I don't know!)
Anno of 23A needs to be tinkered
Delete"one in total" (S{I}UM) in StYLE reversed? I am not sure the phrasing of the wordplay supports that (I read the "one in total roundabout" as suggesting that S{I}UM goes around StYLE reversed), although it does take away the indirect anagram problem.
DeleteDICHOTOMY*, Excellent Cryptic. Difficult to believe it is a debut.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. We'll be drinking to that!
DeleteIntoxicated CW, enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteGlad, and relieved!
DeleteNice puzzle from Dichotomy*!
ReplyDeleteSome very nice clues - I especially liked 1a, 29a, 2d, 3d, and 22d. Some clues could perhaps have benefited from tighter editing (e.g., in 27a, the superfluous words form almost half the clue; in 6d, the part after the word play - "to take a trip around the sun" - is not a proper definition of the answer.)
Thanks to the setter and to DG!
Noted, and cringing. Thank you!
