  6. 12-A is a brilliant clue. Sad indeed that the wire is no more in vogue.
And this reminded me of a good old joke about the consequences of a north Indian trader, while on a business trip, wiring his wife to intimate his programme to her. Lalaji was touring interiors of Rajasthan and at Jaipur, he finished his business ahead of the schedule. So with time at his disposal, he planned to hop over to AJMER before returning home and duly sent a telegram to his wife to intimate her about the visit to Ajmer. Those days, one could text a wire in Hindi too.
And no sooner than completing his work, he returned to Delhi.
Alas, on reaching home, Lalaji was greeted by a gathering of relations and friends, all clad in white with drooping faces of gloom. Taken aback at such a scene, he rushed inside the house to see some ladies mourning before his wailing wife. Yes, literally unconscious, she lay on the floor clutching a telegram that read SAIT JI AAJ MAR GAYE.
