  2. In any event Vladimir did not OVERACT.
    Did not approach any PIMP.
Neither did he indulge in VANDALISM nor induce RIOTS.
    What then?
Did he in a new AVATAR read the AGAMAS?
    What exactly was HAPPENING?

  3. 12a typo
I have an objection to state-VA.
NY/UP/MP are Ok because they are mostly used as such. It opens a pandoras box for solvers if AR is clued as state.
Also mean to medium (technically may be correct as I am tired of often heard it's their in the OED). But as CV sir often used to say, setters/solvers need to be mindful of usages and general connotations too. When Average itself is available to fit in the clue, mean should have been avoided. Unless it was a typo of means!

    Otherwise an excellent challenge.

    2. Virginia tova is ok. But state to Virginia to VA!!!
      Now find AR.

    3. Point noted. Valid point. Will keep in mind for future clues. AR is Arakansas.

    4. Tried the grid just now and then came to check the blog. Liked VAGRANT, AVENGE, GRATIS, NEUTRAL and many others. Thanks to Vidwan and Col.
      One doubt:
Where is the reference to "state" in 12A? The clue reads
Authorised to see Area 51? Dashed right away (9)
I was wondering how to anno see = V (wordplay gave me area = A + LI + DARTED -R)
      Am I missing something?

    5. No Ramki. Ref.to state is in 9A. Prasad is always too cryptic in his comments- takes longer to decipher!!

    6. Same doubt for me. How do we get V? Is that why Col. put it as 'Varted'?

    8. Thanks Paddy. But then what is the anno for V in 12A?
I'm wondering if the setter intended see = Vatican = V?

    9. See = v is listed in Chambers crossword dictionary - saw it just now.

    10. Like you said we have to get V from See/ to see (view?)

    11. I only pointed the typo in anno of 12a. (D is missing )
      Next sentence next subject.
