Objective sounded like a noun on the surface.

  29. Some of my thoughts/reasoning the comments above.
6d) it is an error from my side as Paddy pointed out
23a) I think the clue is slightly unfair to the solver. An indicator for key would have been fair.
14d) UN are peacekeepers. Even though the standard abbreviation for peacekeeper is UN.. I think it's fair for UN to be used for peacekeepers as well
7d) this was my thought process.. example : the objective reasoning for making this decision was.. replacing objective with logical doesn't alter the meaning of the sentence.. hence I took it as a synonym

    1. 7D If we replace '... objective is to..' with '.. logical is to..',
      will it be grammatically correct?

      Delete
    2. I understand your POV.. then in case of 3d replacing "very" with "so" would also make the sentence grammatically incorrect.. In this clue, I do agree it is a stretch, but I still think it can be taken as a synonym

      Delete
    3. I agree that replacing with a synonym doesn't always make sense. I am referring to replacing a noun(as used in the clue) with an adjective.
With that reservation apart, it is acceptable. 👍

    4. Abhishek UN for peacekeepers come from the UN peackeepers organisation.
Whereas UN peace maker is only an objective/peception of/about UN.

  31. Couple of more pointers
9a was intended as DD & CD
8d was intended as an CD and charade
    Call - telephone
    One, perhaps - number
    Whole clue is the definition

    ReplyDelete
  32. Peacekeeper/s - both should be okay. After all they are an organisation.
Logical for objective is a little stretched, but acceptable. As you say, replacement in a sentence is a good check (okayed by Gridman himself) in addition to dict. meaning.

  33. My doubts were about
    Appraise/apprise
Dr is D - it is usually Dr, MO etc. No?

    How is PRACTICAL cd?
    Kindly clarify.
    Thanx Abhishek.
