18A A short probably for Avenue. In any case that is what NJ meant. a is shown as abbr. for road in the infamous long list of abbreviations which NJ uses
ReplyDeletePlease ignore the above query. Got the answers from Google.
ReplyDeleteRichard
Wake is the name of an island somewhere in the Pacific, I think
ReplyDeleteMeaning of wake given in freeonline dictionary
ReplyDelete2. A watch over the body of a deceased person before burial, sometimes accompanied by festivity.
@ Suresh
ReplyDeleteYour response and my request to ignore the query appear to have crossed each other. Thanks, nevertheless.
32 across - Sembhayya's answer 'Doddle' appears to be accurate. A Net search shows the meaning 'an easy task'. The clue appears to be a straight lift from there. Getting the answer 'doddle' was not an easy task for us, though.

23D is a DD. A red eye flight is one which departs late in the night allowing for very little sleep
ReplyDeleteWhat is the def?
ReplyDeleteAnger?
Showing anger?
If 'showing anger' is the def, the answer will have to be a word ending in -ing such as raging (just for example, ignoring clue enu)
If 'anger' is the def, what is 'showing' doing?
@Chaturvasi. Hey. don't look for such fineries. I you are angry you are red-eyed. That's enough for NJ
ReplyDeleteSee I got in a typo in my last comment. It should read 'If you are angry' not I you are angry
ReplyDeleteShowing anger, I travel on an overnight flight
ReplyDeleteShowing anger = RED
I = EYE
travel on an overnight flight = {RED}-{EYE}
