ReplyDelete8 - Lima or pea say? (7,2,4) - CAPITAL OF PERU [DD] ?
ReplyDeleteYup, DD. P(~pea) is the capital of Peru, as is Lima
O! I C
DeleteOfficer ! Indian Commission
Delete26a TRAVERSER - This is a noun for a person who traverses.
ReplyDeleteThe clue type is an &lit - full or semi, I don't know.
Buzzer probably did not want to use 'him' and incur the wrath of women for having excluded them. So he uses 'her' - which I say is reverse discrimination.
Continuing the banter from another time and place, let us not call it a full or semi -lit, but a quarter lit, the type when you are lit with a quarter inside you.
DeleteOnly W,Z missing...
ReplyDeleteJust liked it 9D (fair & square!)
ReplyDeleteGreat Crossword, Buzzer. Loved it. Took a little longer, but just the way I like it a ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteVery entertaining and a different mindset needed for this. Loved 8D, 9D in particular. While 8D was eminently gettable, 9D would be quite a challenge without crossings.
ReplyDeleteNot in favour of initial letters of words being used as fillers, unless indicated, or they are standard abbreviations, eg OB for over bowled (or is this fair game?)
I think O B from 'over bowled' is OK.
ReplyDeleteIn cricket scorecards where bowling analysis is given, O M B W, doesn't O stand for 'Over' and B for 'Bowled'?
That, as I remember it, is OMRW, with R for runs...
DeleteHowever, b for bowled is used in giving individual scores and method of dismissal as in
Gavaskar b Lillee
Kishore
DeleteThanks for correcting me. I was less than careful in writing that comment.
Yesterday's Crossword by Gridman:
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it.! May be Gridman heard and got piqued with my comment earlier: When is the next compiler in?
He was at his 5 down best. I was a bit 17down (TICKLISH) wqhen I cracked B(branch). Arm-in-Arm.
Mayb e now that MMSardarji is back with his Finance portfolio, he might as well give a go a 4 down. DOLLAR DIPLOMACY?
I didn't fair well today, but it's my failing. I love the cluing style -- we need more like this in THC. Some of the clues for which I did not have an answer, I at least had a partial solution; e.g. 5D I knew was an anagram of IPLOMAY, but couldn't for the life of me find the proper word (without referring to external sources). Like Bhala, I loved 8 and 9D, especially the latter with it's nice surface. But unlike him, I understood what was required almost immediately. :)
