Kishore: Re: your preamble.
ReplyDeleteAre geeks only from the IT world?
CV my turn to blog today.
DeleteGeeks are not necessarily from the IT world.
Thanks for removing my misapprehension.
DeleteBRB says "someone who is obsessively enthusiastic, esp about computers". By the way the other meanings are Freak, Eccentric, Creep or Misfit !!!
DeleteSee... "esp. about computers".
DeleteSo my worry that all the credit went to those people from the IT world was correct! In any case I am sure there are some of them among visitors here.
Hum aur tum aur yeh samaa....n

Nice song. Sounds like a lullaby! :)
DeleteDG, not me, is the BoD.
ReplyDeleteI take it in the Br mil slang sense of 'person'.
ReplyDeleteThat is the surface. What I meant was "Blogger of the day" similar to CoD
DeleteOf course. I understood what you meant esp as you have written it as BoD - just added another sense of the word, though we would spell it as 'bod'.
DeleteA nice puzzle from Neyartha. Missed out on 21Dn. Had to take net help for a couple of clues. Had problems too in annotating some of the clues but satisfied after seeing the blog. Thank you Neyartha.
ReplyDeleteExcept 'ADZE' got all. Thanks Neyartha
ReplyDeleteDid well, I should say, keeping in mind it is a Neyartha CW!
ReplyDeleteThank you Col. for the IPL 7 scoreboard. While solving CW's we can also get the latest.
Looks like many didn't see the photos of an all 'S' meet in Chennai posted in the THCC Families blog. Here's the link again The 'S' Meet
ReplyDeleteClueless I was.. Neyartha always does that to me. Maybe it is a mind block. :(
ReplyDeleteI also feel it is a mental block. that is why I felt I did comparatively well today except I got stuck in the NW corner.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion - instead of using 'E' for straight clues, using 'Q' - quickie , seems O.K.
ReplyDeleteVery happy. Today I could crack all except 15a & 17 d. To be honest it was a big blank. Ideas/words started trickling. Though Im not that much computer savvy I could solve all related to comp.peripherals thanks to pointed clues. The ones for 24,26a & 7,8d quite appealong. On the whole, a wholesome entertainer.
ReplyDeleteTypo. appealing.
ReplyDelete15 Dish with an edible root from Cuba overwhelms the king (4) TACO TA(-r+c)CO
ReplyDeleteI think, as per the Country Codes suppliesd by ISO{International Organisation for Standardization}, CU stands for CUBA. Is 'C' for Cuba OK?
Typo : Supplied
DeleteSimilarly in 27Ac 'GE' is taken for Georgia and not GA(By ISO). Looks like in CWs, we can take first letter or first two letters of cities, states or countries.
DeleteApart from the country code mentioned by you, others ref.s like internet domain (TLD) is also used to represent the country. In Cuba, both are CU, so I cannot explain C for Cuba.
DeleteHowever, in the case of Georgia, you have fallen for a trap. GA is for Georgia, the US state, while GE represents Georgia, the country between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.
Thanks Kishore. :)
DeleteThe Crossword bug has bitten the quiz column in the Young World supplement today. Q12 is missing!
ReplyDeleteAny takes on the name Muscad in the cartoon?
ReplyDeleteMusca domestics, the common housefly, from Muscat, mostly ☺
ReplyDeleteGot all today except MISERERE which put me in misery. Needed Google for a couple of what should have been easy, in hindsight.
ReplyDeleteBang on!
ReplyDeleteAbove is addressede to Prabhanjan for his 715pm
Delete15A I assumed that 'root' was doing double duty.
ReplyDelete24, 26A I would classify it as CD, rather than GK/E.
