The clues for this Community Crossword are written by a team of volunteers who are members of this blog, some taking two clues each and others one each.
Solvers are NOT required to enter answers in the Comment section as is generally done for our Sunday specials. This time they are invited to send the solutions to chaturvasi{at}yahoo{dot}com in solution grid form or in run-on paras (Across: 1 ..., 4 ... etc. Down: 1 ..., 2 ... etc.) before 11-59 p.m. IST Monday, the 21st April, 2014.
Clue writers too may take part, though they might already know one or two answers.
The name of the solver who sends the first all-correct entry (as received by the moderator) will be declared the winner. The names of all others who send all-correct entries will be published when the results are announced.
The moderator takes no responsibility for mails not received.
The filled-in grid was contributed by Chaturvasi.
Visitors to the blog who in the past were not able to post answers before the deadline are specially invited to send solutions, making use of the time available now. Please add your place of residence.
Those who send entries are encouraged to indicate any clues that they consider are good. When publishing the results, I will say which won most mentions.

ReplyDeleteClues look interesting, and quite challenging too.
ReplyDeleteParticularly the top half.
DeleteSome high quality clues.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteClues are very good & one can see the varieties quite clearly. Enjoyed the puzzle thoroughly.
ReplyDeleteSuresh's comment which I deleted by mistake
ReplyDelete"Good one. Several minds better than one."
And who said "too many cooks spoil the broth?"
DeleteWhether it is spoilt or not depends upon the 'master'.
DeleteYesterday at a restuarant I was thoroughly disappointed with the soup that they served. Mind you, because it was so good on a previous visit we ordered it but this time it was a flop.
I think that when there is a big crowd and when there is some shortage of any ingredient they make-do and when they fix something like that w/o the proper ingredients or method the dish turns out to be unwholesome.
They should politely say it is no longer available. But when there is a big crowd there is lack of co-ordination between the manager/supervisors and kitchen staff.
CV, awaiting the photos
DeleteAs a setter I am left wondering (after reading Suresh's comment):
ReplyDeleteHow can one get several minds so one's crossword will be better?
Great job of putting together a crossie by CV of the eclectic clues from the group of bloggers !! A to V ( alas, none beyond this !) wrestling their minds or is it rustling their minds? to wring out their best !
ReplyDeleteTHCC shining ! shinning each other to be the winner ! NO Prizes?
Each solver may be allowed to also comment as to how much time was taken and HONESTLY say whether they resorted to refer to any dictionary or any devices or Google Mama !
CV: the first all correct winner to be selected as and when you receive the solutions or to be picked at an appointed time after the dead line?
In any case, we all are winners alike to keep this blog lively and alive and kicking , chewing our toes !!
Raju
ReplyDeleteIsn't the sentence "The name of the solver who sends the first all-correct entry (as received by the moderator) will be declared the winner" clear enough?
After reading this a Konar will be left wondering what is there for him to explicate further and fear that he may be out of business of writing notes.
I agree with you hundred per cent that all those who send all-correct entries are winners in a sense.
CV: Thanks.
DeleteWhat or who is a Konar?
Raju Sir - How come You forgot the KONAR notes of yore!
ReplyDeletePlease note to Encourage to list out those with one or two mistakes (like me?!) also.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible of school Tamil as a subject. Obviously Raju did not take Tamil as second language.
ReplyDeleteJust got back and guess who I bumped into today!
ReplyDeleteOld Mohsin!
Had taken the week off and gone home (Jabalpur) :)
DeleteI too picked up relatives coming in from JBP
DeleteKonar kon hotha hai?
ReplyDeleteKon jane?
DeleteAap bhi anjan hain? Being a Tamilian?!
DeleteRichard, Konaak kalTa re saiba?!
DeleteMhaka dista amkam Konarak vochpak poDTelem
DeleteGreat team work
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the xword ! Thanks CV Sir, col Sir & all the volunteers
ReplyDeleteAnd I still don't get what is Konar! I being a Telugu chap.
ReplyDeleteStill in the dark about Konar. So please elucidate and enlighten Tamil was never my subject all through my educational period. I had Additional English and HIndi. My working knowledge of Tamil is only due to day to day dealings, a few spattering of Tamilised Malayalam or Malayalamised Tamil from my parents . I don't now how and when I managed to read Tamil in my childhood - from Kalkandu and other odd mags lying strewn at home in Bombay ! I cannot claim to be a polyglot but I can follow all the major regional languages and dialects when they are spoken-- probably because of their base being Sanskrit. Even speak a few of them !
ReplyDeleteNow my domestic language is mainly Hindi and English with my wife and occasionally to rile her, I throw in a few Tamil words !!
.
Konar books are the Tamil equivalent of the Dummies books in English. You must have seen books like C++ for Dummies, books which put the subject in simple and fairly easy to understand terms.
DeleteThanks, Kishore ! Now the coin has dropped down on the Konar slot. I have never come across any Konar but several Dummies book, being one big Dummy myself !!
DeleteBetter than that Kishore. It is proper guide (notes) for the current year's Tamil text book. Many students swear by Konar without even reading the prescribed text book.General belief is that you can not only get through but score good marks if you are thorough with it. It covers all important questions as well as grammar etc.
ReplyDeleteThat's it? No comments or discussions on the clues? Any clue-wise reviews coming up from CV's end on the clues written?
ReplyDelete11.59 pm on 21st is the deadline. So any discussion on clues can be after that only.
