ReplyDeleteThanks everybody for noting the landmark. Yes, I have crossed the 1000 mark. As per serial number, it has crossed 990. Some unnumbered specials (like those when I set fresh grids including the words you all suggested, specials to mark say All Fools Day, etc., were quickly set and published, perhaps out of turn. Thanks again for your encouragement. This number doesn't take into account puzzles I set for Frontline, Target, Sportsworld, The Telegraph (sports page), Evening News of London, American Reporter and a Madras magazine - these may be 200+.

ReplyDeleteWhy not publish a special to mark the 1000, although it may have been passed already. It is our fault not to have kept track or checked with you earlier. Still it deserves a special- this is a 'Listener's choice'! (call it slogger's if you wish) Maybe after the CW contest, which you would give you enough time to gather your thoughts.
On ixl17 - I am unable to get either the leaderboard or the solution window. Any of you get it? From Facebook it is understood that the round 1 results are out.

ReplyDeleteCV: Sorry for this belated congrats for your reaching the 1000 mark, blogs + others, for your compilations . Have you kept any record of the ones compiled in the pre-blog days? Do you keep any count at all? Guinness had a record of the largest number of crosswords compiled by any individual, at one time, but I don't know the present status. Are your collections in your PC or any database? I'd love to know. The Guinness refused to take not of '' collections '' as they do not have a reference point, as they claimed . In any case, their procedure of earning a position in their Book is tortuous and circuitous.You can try with all the bloggers here to back you. They must be having a liaison office in India. Worth a try. I gave up after two attempts. While I am in the Limca Book for my collection of solved & unsolved, you must give it a go for your compilations.If interested, I can co-ordinate with them, since they had used me as a pointsman for them in Nairobi & Coimbatore earlier.
