  37. 13d. A doubt - Crew = man is ok?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. From Free dictionary...

Verb 1. crew - serve as a crew member on
man - provide with workers; "We cannot man all the desks"; "Students were manning the booths"

      Delete
    2. man - provide with workers; "We cannot man all the desks"; "Students were manning the booths"
staff - provide with staff; "This position is not always staffed"
crew - serve as a crew member on
man - take charge of a certain job; occupy a certain work place; "Mr. Smith manned the reception desk in the morning"

      Delete
    3. Unusual that both man & crew work as verb and not as noun as we normally expect. Hand it to Doc.

    4. Thank you. Only a perfect grid can be nitpicked :-) so taking liberty - for example in 27Ac, at first, was not convinced with the usage of the word 'involved' as 'in' served the function and the words pine, tin and g cascaded without need for anagram. I thought it extra but (a) was needed for surface and (b) there are 3 words to go into Sling so on 2nd thoughts looked fine.

      Delete
    5. Hi CPC, 'involved in', 'found in', 'caught in', 'kept in' etc are standard insertion indicators.
You can read more at site below.
