16 - Decreasing appeal, awkward for Signorina (7) - IRONING {sIGNORINa}* What's the indicator for deletion of sides?
ReplyDeleteNot deletion of sides. Decreasing sex appeal, deletion of s........a, double duty!
Then is 'decreasing' doing double duty as deletion indicator and a quaint def for word reqd?
DeleteIs the position of del ind correct?
If 'decreasing' in thes ense of 'removing creases' is the def, should it have been de-creasing?
When does the deletion take place - before the anagram operation or after that?
Isn't the surface reading excellent?
How does the Signorina increase her appeal? Um - by not evening out?
That one was meant as a compound anagram
Deleteironing + sa = signorina
with 'awkward' as the anagram indicator
Really enjoyed solving.Thanks B sir

ReplyDeleteExcellent CW. Enjoyed it immensely, though I could not complete a few. Kicking myself after seeing the annos. Libretto was new to me. As Kishore put it aptly,Way to go, Buzzer!
ReplyDeleteGood case for increasing Buzzer's quota?
Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm happy to stick to the current quota unless I lose my day job : )
DeleteAnother good one from Buzzer.
ReplyDeleteMy view
Simpler to extract correlative lye as your poison.(10,4)
I think I can safely say that Buzzer has filled the hole left by Spiffytrix, for me at least! The surfaces are a pleasure to read, even better I'd say, comparatively speaking, and makes solving enjoyable.
