Holiday adjustment being done with the number??
ReplyDeleteOr the subsequent ones were already numbered and a duplicate number was found and required to be distinguished?
ReplyDeleteSankalak puzzles are always distinguished...
8a is something I've had an overdose of...
ReplyDeleteGd mng. Glad that Kishore is making up for his absence.
ReplyDeleteMany readers of The Hindu may not be Net-savvy and may not try the crossword online. Maybe to avoid confusion among such readers the suffix A has been adopted.
Last time around when an online crossword had appeared in the absence of a print version, readers may have made enquiries about the missing number (used for the online crossword.) This is just my conjecture.
Does all this mean that this version would be missing in print for Chennai readers? Will have to wait till the morrow to know.
ReplyDeleteKishore in Apple pie order? (As always?)
Richard the 1st beaten by Kishore today
ReplyDeleteI clean forgot to check the online version even though I was up on my feet at 5 am. Missed all the fun.
DeleteOh,no upstaging intended or desired. Just happened to reach home at 1050 and saw the time was ripe to wait in the wings ... I, like Sir Richard, had not done the crossie when logging in.
DeleteMissed out both in the first column-'proper'ly.
ReplyDeleteLast time this happened in Bangalore the next days paper had two CWs
ReplyDeleteMaybe this time the Chennai edition will carry the same crossword, with nothing on the online edition
ReplyDeletePaper not delivered today, fb came in handy. Rains or no print version today?
ReplyDeleteNeat offering.
Wondering why 24A is categorised as CD. Isn't it more like a E/GK type clue?
Explain Anno for 13 across please
ReplyDeleteI think it's missing a reversal indicator or something
DeleteI presume the question is about acceptable=on
DeleteI think it is fine.
For example :
Is the plan on ?
OK (acceptable).
DeleteThanks
I too had the same doubt. Thanks

DeleteI am still a bit confused about 15D. It seeems to be more derived from crossings. Why can't it be SCOUR for e.g.? How to be sure?
ReplyDeleteThe action of surgeons washing their hands before an operation is known as 'scrub'
ReplyDeleteWell, since there was no delivery of physical newspaper, i did not check the online edition. Hence i was unaware of its existence. I do not know they carry online edition!
ReplyDeleteThis is the Hyderabad edition physical copy of which was published today since they do not seem to have a local holiday. Wondering what our Chennai edition is going to carry tomorrow- same or a different one or both?
