ReplyDeleteHello all
Failed to get 11A and 19D (have OOMPAH in mind, but cannot annotate).
Needed uncle Google to get LEGERDEMAIN, OENOPHILE (nice, new word for me) and ARETHA FRANKLIN.
Liked ESTAMINET, ALTERCATION, OKAPI, PAINTBALL, ON THE RUN, LATTERLY, SABOTAGE, UNCONVENTIONAL, MINSTER, RAPIER, REALISTIC, IN SEASON, PATCH and others. Special mention for word-play in 5A (A SWELL and AS WELL).
Looking forward to Rendezvous Sunday 1030, time permitting. Just wondering who the new setter could be. May anonymity prevail, nevertheless.
Blimey, I messed up 19D and 26A.
DeleteNever heard of cor blimy ( God bless me came to mind, but did not fit in),nor did I find corby.Even with Google these small towns in U.K. put us at a disadvantage.
ReplyDeleteOenophile was good but neede help.
Paintball was new and interesting.
Missed out on studying Hamlet,Othello during college .have to catch up at least on names!
Looking forward eagerly to 10.30, though I may be joining late. Will be trying to get in a few before I leave.
Everyone heard of Cor and everyone heard Blimey. Just the combination neede confirmation from Google uncle like a few other clues
ReplyDeleteGuess no one uses expressions like Cor Blimey these days, but anyone who has read William, Jennings, Biggles and the like would have caught on pretty quick.
ReplyDeleteMissed out on quite a few! Sunday morning is always busier!! Enjoyed getting Legerdemain, Estaminet and Altercation.
ReplyDeleteGood evening all. Wonder who it will be on Monday? Delicious anticipation...
It should be the turn of the 'new' setters. Should be Tester if the last cycle repeats
