    Try=Go
And*=Dan, but better does not seem a better Anind.

    1. Was it supposed to have been:

      Try and batter Premchand’s masterpiece

    2. Better = improve ; So can be a valid Anagram ind ?

  2. Thanks once again to everyone for the good wishes on my birthday. Special thanks once again to Kishore, Bhavan, CV, Arden and Shuchi for the B'day special. I was further delighted to see Shuchi, Kishore and Arden with his wife at the celebrations yesterday.

    1. Thanks Sandhya.

I am still hungover with all the Vodka and the Champagne besides the fact that Scintillator always stumps me on some clues

    2. I took it the same way but wasn't sure why Post-retirement ( i.e sleeping ?) is a reversal indicator

      Delete
    3. Retirement in this context refers to retreading/receding.

  10. Curious Question : For yesterday's special did the setters work independently with their set of clues or was it all done together. If they had all worked independently it would be fun to guess the setter based on the clue. ( i.e a kind of 'how well do you know your setter' contest )

    1. Go ahead and have fun guessing :)

Kishore was coordinating the efforts with each setter tackling a 4th of the clues independently.

    2. Across 1 to 16 : CV
      Across 18 to 32 : Suchi
      Down 1 to 15 : Arden
      Down 17 to 29 : Bhavan

    3. Please let us know if the split is correct and then the guessing game can begin in right earnest.

    4. Sounds about right :) except 15 was mine and 22/1 was Arden's

  11. Got all but got stuck with some annos. Blog has resolved. Doe a deer, a female deer was one such.

    1. I thought the use of does for deer was brilliant. Possibly the clue of the day

  12. Yes Ramesh. I agree with you. I did not spot it until I saw the blog. Still had a doubt about plurals and after verification found that plural of Doe could either be 'Doe' or 'Does', but plural of deer ib only deer!

Bravo! (for your guessing of clue writers) You almost hit the jackpot, which means you have a thorough understanding of not only the clues but clue writers as well!

    1. :) Thanks. Arden & CV were easier to spot ( Gin gave Arden away, Gas had the CV stamp). The toss up was between Buzzer & Shuchi ( I hope I got the spelling right this time ). I have never had a chance to attempt a Shuchi crossword, so I had no idea about her style. It is just luck that the guess turned out to be right.

  13. Getting the hang of scintillator's style much better each time around. Picked most of the clues fairly easily today, "does" being one of the few exceptions (definitely My COD)
