    1. Aaron reminded of a great thriller I read long ago: Primal Fear by William Diehl. It was also made into a movie.

    3. Filled in Baron first and altered to Aaron - the way it should be done!

  2. If I remember right, he was the first IM from India. Now we have quite a few GM's including the latest one today- Akshatraj Kore.

  5. Finally - solved a KKK CW! But the masters took the wind out of my sails! Easy peasy they say.
So is it Aaron, baron or canon, finally? I wrote 'baron'.

  6. Smooth. Liked 1D for its simplicity.

The debate about how much is 'some' is bound to resurface

    1. I was informed that it was a no-no, but I don't see it as a problem as long as it is understood (by both sides) that it refers to a subset of letters from the word which follows.

  7. Nice easy one, not complaining :)

Considered baron, filled in canon & totally missed out on Aaron until I saw the blog.

Reg 6D, at least to me, if you say A arising from B, A should be the definition & B the anag. fodder. Not sure if it is OK to have the anag. fodder at either end in this case.

    1. I recalled Hank William's Jambalaya (On the Bayou). HK's "Hey Good Looking, Whatchagot cooking?" is an old favourite with me and Kuldeep.

    2. Here's the link to it:

      The memorable line was:
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou

    3. The Carpenters too chipped in with their own version of Jambalaya which also was a hit for many years.

  10. I missed out on Aaron and filled in Canon, not quite understanding why and meaning to check after getting ready. Then I saw the blog and voila!

  11. What ho!

Glad to know that the puzzle was alright. Had a few apprehensions with some clues myself.
Re 6D, well, VP, I do think that you might well be right but here it somehow fitted the surface better this way. Thanks for pointing it out, though. Shall keep it in mind if I ever use it again.

Thank you very much for the support. Hopefully, future offerings will be of a slightly higher difficulty level.

    Cheers!
