This was fun from KKK. A couple of new words but not ungettable from the wordplay. If I have to criticize the puzzle, it is for the number of clues having gratis bits of the answers. But enjoyed it on the whole.

Gita strikes again today
ReplyDeleteYou too are hiding her, Col. GopInATh, although in a 17D form..
DeleteGita strikes again today...
Delete...And I don't get my lunch!
... I am battered and bruised.
You can use the batter to make idli or dosa
Deletebruised dosas?
DeleteAlternatively the batter could be sent to help the Pune Warriors IPL team
DeleteCSK seems to be needing it too.
DeleteTalking of names, a client once read out loud from the certificate on my wall, " Mangalore Kishore from Bangalore" and chortled.
ReplyDeleteWith a straight face I ageed with him, " yes, Mr Dutta from Calcutta"
Are 'GAS' and 'THROTTLE' synonymous?
ReplyDeletestep on the gas (or throttle)?
ReplyDeleteI had my doubts too on that except that throttle gives more gas, not just gas.
ReplyDeleteI had a doubt about fissure, but on looking up chap is also one of the meanings given. Totally new to me.
That's why ladies use chapsticks, to heal the chaps on their lips!
Delete'Chap' also means a chop or jaw.
DeleteShakespeare often uses 'chap-fallen' to mean "cast-down; dejected" (literally, having the chop or lower jaw fallen down).
Probably that is why what the Chinese use to eat is called 'chopsticks'.
DeleteI enjoyed this too today.
ReplyDeleteEither Ku Klux Klan's standard is falling or I am improving. Except Rannygazoo and Dorshkies I achieved a High B I think.
ReplyDeleteThe standard is not falling. He/she is only setting easier puzzles.
DeleteAnyone read Natwar Singh's piece on Maggie in today's TH? The cartoonist obviously did not.
ReplyDeleteYou're right! And the cartoonist too has it right when he should have left!
DeleteYou said it right! I just left it unsaid...
DeleteReminds me of a friend's gag: "I brain comprises two sides - right and left. In the left, there is nothing right. And in the right, there is nothing left."
DeleteBTW, mention of Molokai in today's CW reminded me of Father Damien. I vaguely remember having a lesson, in one of the many Radiant Readers we had from Allied Publishers, on his leprosy colony.
ReplyDeleteWhat ho!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that the puzzle was of an acceptable standard (if not tough enough). Shall strive to make future offerings tougher.
I must admit that, looking back now, 'throttle' does seem to be out of place to indicate 'gas.' Should've constructed the clue better.
Thank you for the critique and I would welcome more feedback to make the future offerings better.
Cheers!
