  2. Deepak, yesterday I had some interaction with some friends on NJ9842. On a hunch, I looked up your bog archives and saw that 9842 was indeed by NJ. What a coincidence !

  3. 18A brings in a different def. of IT, but a simple straight one!
    By the way, for 24D it was simple but I did not get the interest!
    Holstein was new. And I had intrinsic doubts about extrinsic

  4. Very nice cw. Smooth surfaces; leading clues. To specially mention 15,16d.24a evokes natural curiosity . 16d brings out power to think laterally.Overall a good entertainer.again 13d-for italian we were used to it only; il is new(s).

    1. It's not new Swami

      IT stands for Italian
      and IL stands for 'the' in italian

  5. The Ghost who walks has taken us for a nice stroll in the park - this was a very nice puzzle.

    However, the anno for 4A is not clear to me even after seeing the blog post. Father gives us FR, but how about the rest?

    1. Bound = LEAP
      by
      father = FR
      spirit = GO
      regresses = Reversal indicator (so spirit regresses = OG<=)
      yet
      advance in large steps = Definition = {LEAP}{FR}{OG<=}

  6. Thanks much Col. I missed the "leap" meaning of bound -- and was using it as a container indicator...

    1. What is there to comment upon when the clues have no problems. Enjoyable crossword.

  8. Mostly fair cluing and some smooth surfaces, but I felt some of the other clues were rather long-winded to hold my interest. So, I solved the shorter clues first and then, with enough crossings in hand, attacked the longer ones.

    6D: The on was misleading in the cryptic.
