7d cold solving: sober as a judge!
ReplyDelete1a K's!
ReplyDeleteHenry Cecil, author of legal novels, had a book by the title "Sober as a judge", a phrase by itself. I have enjoyed reading some of his novels, but not this.
ReplyDeleteMost enjoyable books- every trick in legal trade was fully and humorously exploited by him.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, Freedict. also gives this under sober:
ReplyDeleteAdj. sober - dignified and somber in manner or character and committed to keeping promises; "a grave God-fearing man"; "a quiet sedate nature"; "as sober as a judge"; "a solemn promise"; "the judge was solemn as he pronounced sentence"
Given reference for thousand=c - should it not be k?
ReplyDeleteIt is K
