    Websters gives OCHER/OCHRE/BRASS/MONEY/WEALTH as synonyms.

  5. I presumed 'I' comes from 'he'.

  6. Shouldn't it be "retort", not "report" in 11A?

    {I} has not been explained.

    Can it be (ED)(IF)(IC)(E)?
    Chief = IC for in-charge (i/c)

  10. Didn't like the inconsistencies in some of the clues. (Who does?)

    "lie down when sick" - I spent some time turning LIE upside down.

    "Roy has the" ideally should be RO{THE}Y or something like that, if an anag. indicator had been provided.

    And, for the most pedantic moment of the evening, a METEOR never travels in space (which I take to mean "outer space"). Those things are meteoroids. Meteors are meteoroids which enter Earth's atmosphere and burn up. If they happen to survive the entry and fall somewhere, they are called Meteorites.

    Evident is easily seen/understood or obvious.
    How does it relate to the clue?
