  1. As noted by Rengaswamy in Orkut and seconded by me, and also voted for by Deepak, 3D is probably the best clue in this series. It is simply superb.

BTW, for those interested, KFP2 releases today.

  2. 29: "One who helped" suggests "Abettor" rather than "Abetted".

Lots of good ones for a change from the past couple of days.

  3. 29 - One who helped by encouragement (7) - ABETTED [CD]
A reading of the clue gives the answer as ABETTOR.
Had it been only 'helped by encouragement', the solution would be right.

  4. BTW, I was completely fooled by 9! I couldn't figure out what the trick was, and now I see there isn't one.

  5. O was clued in two different ways today:

Balloon in 3d and vacancy in 20a.

  6. Agree with the rest about the improvement in clues.

Having said that, have a few nits today.

    22 - Vets crawlers without cash (8) - {INS{P}ECTS}

The clue is at odds to the anno ? AB without XY is X(AB)Y, not A(XY)B

23 - She will appear with the Italian general (5) - ELLIE*(il+lee) Where's the AInd

Even if there was an AI, it is still an indirect anagram.

  7. Bhavan, actually using the definition without=outside, AB without XY is A(XY)B.

  8. 5d -'Past Master' is not one word but two. Manna takes all kinds of liberties with words/grammar/usage in his clueing.

  9. @Harvey thank you. I stand corrected.

  10. Kishore,

KFP2 'releases' today. Shouldn't this be KFP2 is being released today?. I know that of late, phrases like '..the form generates..' instead of 'the form is generated...' are used, but..

  11. 5a Going & passage - Is it okay grammatically? The connection is not so smooth, imho

  12. You are perfectly correct, Giri.

  13. Ram @ 19:40,
Going and Passage are synonymous. When someone comes after a sea journey he can be asked 'How was the going?' to enquire about the journey.
