ReplyDeletePlural of 'neat' (in the sense of animal) is 'neat'.
ReplyDeleteWhether 'animals', the plural form, should have been necessarily used in the clue to fetch 'neat', is a different point.
I could not get lineate since 'neat'as animal/s was new to me.Otherwise simple & straight.

ReplyDeleteDO you know what 'kine' means?
no
ReplyDeleteJust looked up and it says plural of cow.is that right?
ReplyDelete15 - Cares to pay attention (5) - HEEDS [DD]
ReplyDeleteCares = HEEDS is OK.
But, "to pay attention" is HEED. We cannot get HEEDS from that.
10A ENVIOUS is [E], or [S] as CV would say.
However, to have a grudging feeling... is to ENVY. ENVIOUS is an adjective which means full of, feeling, expressing or exhibiting envy. While 'envy' typically involves two people, it is possible to be 'envious' at more than one individual at any given time.
