  5. In 1a it is "A Sitwell" because there was also EDITH SITWELL, the poet, who was Osbert's sister.

    Cor is an interjection (maybe among the Cockneys but this is from memory and I need to check) that means "Goodness" or "Goodness Gracious".

    Yes now that you mention it 'cor' is an interjection and a Britis expression of surprise, like blimey!, the etymology says a 'worn-down form of God'
